Hello did anyone used Ford Fusion hv battery cell or hundai sonta cells with customized bms and relays to forbidden over charge on prius gen 3. Here in my country some dealerships are making lithium batteries for prius from sonata and ford fusion cell modules getting great performance and mileage around 58 mpg do you think guys is safe ?could it done ? Have any one tried before? Some people have been using this battery for more than 3 years with no issues and some people have over charge issue and even got their batteries on flames some dealerships telling that not all shops are able to customize the lithium batteries and not all of them using modified bms and relays to stop over charge and explosion of cells !!!,,,

Looks like from your pictures that someone has done it... I've not read of this before but would like to try this... But need lots of details addressed to do this. Can you get the person who made these photos possible to do a follow up here with lots of details? Thanks!

While that'd be everyone's first choice, that's way more expensive than buying a Ford or Hyundai pack at the wrecker.

Based on that description, I would say it sounds perfectly safe as long as you know you're in the first group of people.

I don’t know if it’s safe or not there is different dealerships doing this lithium pack in different methods no one tell you his secrets some of them claim that they are using modified bms and relays to connect with the original bms to control charging discharging rates to avoid explosions since lithium cells can’t be changed more than 8.4 in upper limit but nickel cells can hold up to 9 volts but some cars got on flames especially in hot weather and some cars are ruining great with no issues since more than 3

This thread makes me wonder if NiMH batteries in coming decades will go the way of leaded gas and no longer be available despite cars being designed for it.

Could it be that in the 2030's everyone driving vintage hybrid cars will be using lithium packs or some even newer chemistry on old hybrids with a battery management system designed for NiMH?

If so then maybe @jacktheripper is way ahead of the game and his project will be incredibly successful?

kbb has my car valued around $2,500. In the next year, a lithium pack would be worth more than my car. It wouldn’t be financially wise to put a lithium pack because the value won’t go up especially if a blown head gasket is hiding behind the bushes.

Oh wait, there are other people selling lithium packs too? Can you list them?

I don't care for resale value. I'm not selling my prius, especially after the work I put in and all the parts I replaced.
