Last fall I put my 2012 Prius Liftback away for the winter. That was early November. I put a home made 14v battery maintainer on the 14v battery so it stayed charged all winter. I made sure my HV (High Voltage) battery was showing nearly full before I shut it down last fall. Today I started my car up for the first time since last November. The HV battery showed 3/4 scale on the dash and my 14v battery showed 14.4v on my Scanguage 2. She started like the day she was new; perfect. No knocks, no weird sounds, totally normal.

Hope this helps someone that may be wondering if the HV battery will hold a charge for at least 8 months with the car not being started.

The rotors are shiny with a ever so slight patina tint. I'll report back on the tires once I get thru the shower and on the road. I have to change the oil yet but it only has 1200 miles on the car so it isn't a real issue :) The tires were set last season to 49 front 47 rear. I believe the sidewall says 51 psi max. They are Michelin MXM4 tires. I'll check them on my way home this afternoon. Have to run to my mother inlaws for lunch :)

The tires felt just like last season. Solid and smooth. I park my car in the garage if that means anything ;-) She drove oh so nice too.

I have been traveling and driving rentals. I have a few days home so decided to drive my car a bit. Heading out next week so it'll be August when I get to drive it again :(

1300 miles on her as I put her back into the garage :( Scanguage 2 said 50.0 mpg on today's trip home from the big city.

What is this 14V battery? I thought they are around 12.8 fully charged?

Same thing :) Typical vehicle running and charging the battery voltage is 13.8v but many Ham Radio guys just call 'em 14v battery's. Interesting how the Prius runs the battery voltage all over the place. I monitor that voltage on my Scanguage 2 and see it all over the place. When I power down the car is goes typically to 12.8v until the meter turns itself off.

Mike you need one of these. You can dial in the temperature and humidity level and control the particle count inside. ;)
