I'm looking at buying a 2010 Prius II with 27500 miles.

For those of you that have a similar car and have passed that mileage mark, what might I expect in terms of service, repairs and maintenance costs?

For instance do oil changes costs more for a Prius? Do all service need to be done at a Toyota dealer? I live in KY and I don't think there are many independent mechanics versed in the Prii technology....

    Thanks,

    Tony

It does require the more expensive synthetic oil, but you only have to change oil every 10K miles, not the usual 5K miles so it offsets. No, you're not required to get it serviced by a Toyota dealer. It has an engine no different from any other cars so any independent mechanics can do it. They won't touch the hybrid system at all for normal maintenance.
