You should check out CamryChat.com - it's a new site that I'm still working on, but all of the forums are open and we've got a few people over there chatting it up!

I guess I better join up. After driving an 07 Camry yesterday, my wife and I have decided to trade up to the Camry hybrid as soon as we can get our hands on one. I've already e-mailed several dealers. Of course, I suppose some people here will consider this trading down, due to the lesser gas mileage. :D We love the Prius for city streets, but the Camry will be far more stable and comfortable for the long highway trips she's been making to visit a sick brother, and we don't want to carry 2 car loans. Given the current high trade-in value on the Prius (assuming I can get my ECU plug replaced cheaply) and the current hybrid tax credit, this seems like a no-brainer for us. I'll be ready for the next car loan about the time the new model Prius comes out!

What I liked about my brief test drive - The reviews are accurate. The Camry actually has some steering response/road feel now - still the cushy ride, but doesn't feel so numb like the old models. The driving was all one finger driving (unlike the Prius). Seats and general interior are improved. Overall, styling, interior and general road feel not as blah as it's been for so many years. Then again, maybe it's me getting older and more blah to match up with this Japanese version of an oldsmobile!

You know, you should have combined all the sites into one central message board tree. Like, there'd be a "Car-Specific Chat" parent, under which are directories "Prius", "Camry", etc., under which are the General Discussion / News / Fuel Economy, etc., message boards. Then the domain names can redirect to the directory for that specific car, but someone can view boards for other cars just by following links, and there'd be no need to re-register, etc.

But it'd probably be a bit painful doing that now, now that you've already created individual message boards.

In the early days - and again not that long ago - Danny bounced that idea off the members of PriusChat. We had some really good discussions. I know that Danny can address the technical and logistical reasons better than I can remember. But I'm content bookmarking the sites and maintaining my identity in the different locations. Danny will be adding links from one to another on the respective sites. You'll know that they are different boards but all related.

I think one of the arguments against combining them was the "posts since last visit" page, for example. When I run the search right now, I get all new posts in every forum. Imagine the number of pages you would get if you added all the forums in all the car boards.

With the "Remember Me" cookie, I just bounce from one to another.
