    Hello guys!

I am interested in a 2007 prius now. It looks so great, with mileage between 50~60k, the first offer from the dealer is $10k.

What do you masters think of this deal?

    A bit more personal info:

It will be my first car, and barely do I understand vehicles. What should I do to inspect and bargain?

    Thank you very much!

    Cheers!

NO! Way to expensive. Far too old. The HV battery probably hasn't been used enough to keep it alive. You are looking at $2500-3000 for a new HV battery. You can find plenty 2012s for $10,000. Keep shopping.

That's insanely high. If it hasn't been replaced, you'll need to figure in an addition $2-3k for a new Toyota battery too because it will need one soon.

If you barely understand the vehicles please do not buy a hybrid. If a used hybrid needs work the things the dealer will tell you will make your head explode. And you'll be forced to pay.

Go get yourself a nice Hyundai.

Everyone is attracted to a used Prius by the perceived gas savings. Those savings are quickly erased by repairs.

    And a $10,000 2007 is ridiculous.

Remember age does not discriminate. Batteries will die, paint will fade and peel, things will eventually fail. No matter how low the mileage

Really all depends on what you need the car for. Work? School? Uber? Just want a car?

You can get all of the above in the 3-5k range. Keeping 5-7k in the bank for when your car does fail. Because yes, 10 thousand dollar cars fail too, and no, they don't cost any less to fix.
