I am going to receive my first prius in two weeks. Is there anyting I should prepare and is there a check list of things to look out for when I take the car.
    Thank you.

When the "READY" light is ON, you'll not hear the engine. The power steering is active, and you'll be in for a great ride!

Take your time and read through the owner's manual thoroughly. You'll find that will keep you from having to search and post here for relatively simple how-to items. And you might find it corrects misinformation that sales staff sometimes pass along. Not saying yours will, but it's been known to happen.

Good luck, and welcome to PriusChat and Prius-dom!

Seriously consider turning the display OFF when you pick it up. If you don't know how, have the dealer do it. Turn it on when you get home. You may be sufficiently distracted by the newness of the display, that your attention to traffic will be diminished.

Gotta tell you, that is the first time I noticed that info was under my name. I wonder how to change it. First of all the car I will be getting, please G-d, is a 2008, - and I do not have the foggiest notion how that "package 9" got in there. Sounds interesting, though.

Read this. It is the emergency response guide and it is written well. Wish the same clear writing was used in the owners manual.

Oh no way! Nice! You must be the first one in this forum with an 08. As far as I know it'll be at least two months till the 08 gets to the States. Lucky you!

    Avi,

The Prius is sold in the U.S. with different options combinations. The number of such combinations varies from year to year. There were nine such combinations available in the 2004 model year, 6 in '05, 8 in '06 and 6 (plus a Touring Edition) in '07.

Package 9 in the 2004 model year included all the available options and accessories, driver and front passenger seat-mounted side airbags, front and rear side curtain airbags, Smart Key System, security alarm, auto-dimming electrochromic rearview mirror with HomeLink® universal transceiver (garage door opener), JBL premium AM/FM cassette/6-disc in-dash CD changer with nine speakers, electronic Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), integrated fog lamps, HID Xenon headlamps and voice-activated DVD navigation system with hands-free phone capability via Bluetooth technology.

Go to My Controls (near the top of the page, just right of center) and then select Edit Profile Information under the Personal Profile heading on the left side of the page. The package information can be edited in the second field from the top.

Thanks for the direction. The 2008 model is not listed yet as an option. You all are tops!
