    Hi Guys
Has anyone found a less expensive way to purchase one of these ?
We recently lost ours for our 2008 Highlander Hybrid & the dealer/stealer wants like $300 to buy & program a new one.
Your thoughts, ideas & alternatives are appreciated !!
    Happy Turkey Day !!

Ask your dealer if you buy one from eBay, would they program it for you?
Make sure that you buy a NEW one from eBay by some remote Toyota dealer.

$300 is typical, but not cheapest price I know. Usually $250 is possible.

A SmartKey fob can be found on eBay for $80-$130
Toyota smart key highlander, eBay Motors items on eBay.com
Dealer would probably charge you 1 hour of labor for programming it ($130?).

Problem is those eBay keys may or may not be programable to the car.

Buy a new fob from some place like parts.com and call around to all your local dealer until you find one that will program it for a reasonable rate. Near me the rates to program a Prius fob ranged from $35 to $100.

The car is programmed to recognize the fob. The fob isn't programmed.

Just wanted to say THANKS to CERIC & also JELLOSLUG for their suggestions.
I bought one today on EBay for under $100 with an uncut key so it must be near new or new.
Thanks for taking your time to do a meaningful reply !!
    Happy Holidays.
