Has anyone heard a moderately loud buzzing from the back of the car, as if you left a vibrating cell phone or pager in there (I did not)? I am used to "normal" Prius noises and the new noises when you plug in, the fans, etc., but this was different. The car was plugged in but on timer so not charging.

I wasn't even sure it was from the car at first, but when I got close enough to tell, it was coming from the car, but soon shut off. Was going for 1-2 minutes straigh, but was also already on when I got to the garage... Anyone else?

could it be the buzzing sound from the vapor recovery system that they were talking about in another thread recently?

I personally haven't heard this sound. The only difference from my Gen II is that in parking lots I noticed the electric motor is considerably louder. I do hear a whirring sound from full electric mode, which I think is normal. We've only had the car a month, so I'll report back if I ever hear this.

That's your pedestrian alert noise maker. The nose in the back not sure. I've been in the car when it's charging and its very quiet. You hardly hear the charger/ battery fan at all.

Bisco - could you mention what thread that was? I can't seem to find it.

I should qualify that this noise was while the car was parked, plugged in, but not charging. I am familiar with the relatively quiet whirrs and clicks while charging, and this was much different and louder - almost as if you left one of those restaurant "pagers" on a wood table.

It sounds like something is hitting one of the squirrel cage blowers. I'd ask Toyota, this doesn't sound the least bit right.

it was something like ' buzzing noise/sound from rear of car' i saw it yesterday. it wasn't a plug in, but someone said the valves in the vapor recovery cannister can be noisy.

You did let the dealer mechanic out before you drove off the lot, right?

i have noticed some vibrating pump noises in the minutes after the car has been turned off, but i don't think i would characterize them as coming from the trunk area...

OMG so many good comebacks to this one.

DrJ, I wish I could hear it... was it a one time thing or do you hear it every night?

So far it was a one time thing... If I hear it again I'll try to pinpoint the exact source... Seemed from battery pack area but not positive. I don't think we left Carson with one of your people in there... LOL
