Does anyone know of any low boost turbo charger kits for the Prius?

As Jimbo's link explains above... The process of adding a turbo is nearly impossible because the car's computers and sensors have to be either reprogrammed or tricked. It'd probably be easier to just wait and buy a Lexus Hybrid once they're more widely available and the price on a used one drops to a more reasonable level.

Or a University in North Carolina is working on some electric motor plates that will mount to your rear wheels, which might be able to be integrated into a Prius in a way that gives more power, but for the most part the Hybrid drivetrain is so refined there's very little that can be done to make it better unless you have access to the source code, which Toyota isn't gonna let happen.

Maybe one day though when the hybrid market is way more competitive Toyota will have to open source it's code to PriusChat so we can design and flash our own firmware for our specific needs, but we're still a long ways away from hybrid open-source programming!

I see, thanks for the reply. Was just reading an article on the VW Jetta Hybrid and thought it would be nice to have a turbo charged motor like they do. :)

Fox Marketing supercharged a CT200h with no ecu changes. Been wanting to try adding boost also just no funds to do so.

Same wacko guy as above tried supercharging a Prius first.

Next Subaru WRX to use electric turbocharger? - Autoblog

Can always try the electric turbo. I'm sure it's kind of the same technology that the F1 cars uses. I think it's called KERs or something like that.

Supposedly planning on using for the new subaru wrx/sti. Not confirmed yet.

KERS stands for "kinetic energy recovery system" and is more a kin to the Prius system. F1 cars are not allowed to use turbochargers of any type.

After reading the AutoSpeed blog, I am convinced it is a nightmare. No wonder noting out of Japan regarding anything horse power mod. I sure wish my Prius motor had 50 more horse power!

The Camry hybrid has 200 net horepower vs the 134 for the Prius hatchback. Perhaps you bought the wrong Toyota hybrid? ;)

The motor has enough Horsepower, the Battery is the limiting factor.

Getting more horsepower out of the engine is easier. The Otto cycle 1.8 liter will be an exact fit and adds 36 HP stock.

Camry are ugly cars! But isn't Prius much lighter than the Camry, it's all based on power vs weight. So Prius should be faster even with less HP right?

Is the prius ecu really that impenetrable? Havent there been multiple companies that have produced a turbo/supercharger for the Honda crz?

I think someone just needs to tackle the ecu part of it..

No. Not by a long shot. See (page 2 of) Fuel Economy vs. Performance | MPG vs. MPH - Consumer Reports.

My mom's 07 Altima Hybrid has 198 hp combined hp (vs. 200 of the '12+ HyCam) and it feels almost like a rocket ship vs. my Prius. It got almost identical acceleration figures.

When they tested it, here's what they got:
    '08 NAH: 0-60 mph: 7.6 sec, 1/4 mile 16.0 sec @ 90.3 mph
    '12 HyCam XLE: 0-60: 7.6 sec, 1/4 mile 15.9 sec @ 92.0 mph
