My prius is a 2013 witg 85k miles. I think the hybrid battery is going out due to the heat.

    welcome!

maybe the tires, 12v, rubbing brakes, stuck emergency brake, clogged air filter, low oil and etc.
but you can test the hybrid battery with tech stream.

Went from steady 52 mpg to 36-42. That is a big drop

Big change in air conditioner use? It takes quite a toll when it gets over 90 degrees or so, especially if you have to park in the sun. It's not impossible, but it seems unlikely that a 2013 would need a new battery this soon.

Do you have window tinting? I'd invest in a solar reflector for your dash.

i love the michelin energy saver a/s, but they are expensive, and may not fit gen 2. ecopia's are good i think. there are lots of tyre threads here with good advise.

The heat will take a toll.......and make the HV battery a bit less efficient.....but likely won't do any permanent damage.
You should still be under hybrid warranty so wait until the weather cools off a bit.
Or take it in if it is due for other service.

I went ahead and got hankooks that were recommended to me at the tire shop. Saved about 100 bucks by buying them online and knowing someone who will install for free.

your mpg's will go down some more, depending on what you are replacing.
