Anybody has a good suggestion to a roof box that doesn’t compromise the driving dynamics too much? I am looking for something to use for a roadtrip. Don’t need a lot of volume and don’t want to compromise my driving dynamics as well as parking situation. My garage at home and work both have a pretty low limit of 7 feet so I want to keep it at that height. my plan is to just keep some packed clothing and accessories like sunshade or camping stuff in it so weight shouldn’t be too much of a problem.
I don’t yet. I assume that will be dependent to the roof box I want to use. Especially the crossbar is usually not very low profile friendly.
There are rooftop cargo bags available that don't require a roof rack, but you need to be careful not to put too much weight on your roof, or you could damage it. Also, the straps that go into the passenger compartment compress the weather seals so that any heavy rain encountered can leak into the car. https://a.co/d/i6dUzzS
Personally I am really not a big fan of roof bag. These are just temporary solution. The fabric never hold well.
I find standard roof boxes too bulky to store it in the garage afterthe holidays, so I use a windsurf sail bag, which can be folded and stored in a cupboard in winter, aerodinamically wise it's long and narrow, if you hit something like a garage roof it' s soft, so no damage if you don't hot it too hard. The bag is not completely waterproof though. I also use original toyota roof racks
