Making Steering heavier.

    Install TRD 17" Forged Rims and Tires. That definitely makes the steering heavy, imho.

    In an old posting, I remember someone said to remove the fuse to the power steering pump, they were quite happy with the results.

    I am usually the one to make a wisecrack, but the 17" rims and tires definitely make the steering heavier. As a matter-of-fact, my wife nicknamed my car Haus because she says that it feels like she's driving a truck compared to her GenII w/ 15" tires.

    Short of doing the aforementioned, I really don't think there is anything else you can do. The steering is what it is...

    Tie two bungee cords to your steering wheel at the 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock positions and anchor the other ends to the floor.

    So just by installing 17 inch rims will make the steering heavier. Can't imagine that. So is it because of the rim weight or because of the wider rims/tyres that makes the steering heavier?

    Any easier way like reducing the EPS assist?

    The 17" tires are wider, much more friction, takes more umph to turn the wheel

    Can't imagine wanting heavier steering, seems toyota did a wonderful job of re-creating the steering of a 55 ford truck for the prii to me;)

    I don't know why, it just does... Go to a Toyota Dealership, and ask to drive a Prius with the Plus Performance Package, then you can see the difference for yourself...
