I've tried to visit PriusChat twice -- starting on Tuesday.

Each time, my AVAST antivirus protection has gone "viral." It blocks numerous threats, or so it says.

So, I have to shutdown FireFox with Taskmanager. And then I run my standalone MalwareBytes program. MalwareBytes, which is a totally separate program, finds several Trojan Horses. All those Trojans are considered moderate threats by yet another malware protection firm -- Sophos.

Apparently AVAST blocks most of the action, but a few things slip through.

Anyway, took a chance today and no problems...yet.....I am using IE, though -- and an old version of IE at that.

I suppose if any of you are extra paranoid, and have visited much in the past day or two, you might try a scan or two, especially if you have Super AntiSpyware or MalwareBytes as options.

Now, if I can just remember why I was trying to visit on Tuesday....

Thanks for the heads up. I haven't gotten any warnings. At home I'm on a Mac but at work I'm on a PC.

Eventually, I'll move this thread to "Website Questions" but I'll keep it in FHoP for a while to see if it gets more replies.

Checking my AV logs, AVAST has lots of EXE files from incident, but describes them all as WIN32:Downloader-HJE(Trj).

MalwareBytes shows log entries as "lots of things," but uses a common "Trojan.Hiloti" in most of the descriptions.

And, I wasn't sure where to post this....so thought Fred's was at least NOT cluttering the actual car forums....
And, I don't know why the Grinning Emoticon keeps popping up....I keep deleting it....anyway, that is supposed to be win32downloader.....not win32"smiley"

Maybe that's a virus that keeps inserting the emoticon...LOL

I've twice encountered this problem while at PriuisChat, but honestly can't remember the specific circumstance. I'm using Microsoft Security Essentials and that seems to take care of the WIN32 virus problem especially since I now update monthly with Microsoft's Malicious Software applet. For sure, it happened once when using Google search within PriusChat. After clicking a search results link to PriusChat, a WIN32 trojan alert activated. If it happens again, I'll give more detail if my system allows. I'm using Windows Vista, Explorer 8.

I never use IE at home, due to its being susceptible to malware.
I do use the MS anti-virus/firewall program, along with ad-aware, and Ad-Blocker plus is installed on my Firefox.
Have not seen an issue on PC recently.

I'm running Firefox 3.6.17 with Ad-Block plus, MS Security Essentials, and Malwarebytes' Anti-Maleware. I never surf with IE.

PriusChat has been clean for me. I'm on every day and do daily scans and have had no detections from this site.

If I wanted to get some malware, I would use an older version of IE on Windows XP.

    Me neither.

CyberPriusII, you might want to update your antivirus software and rescan your computer.

No anti virus problems at PC or anywhere else.

My problem is different and again, does not have anything to do with PC.....I use Google Chrome.

Chrome is (or was) a fast browser, but it's relations to Shockwave Flash is like the Hatsfield's and McCoys. When there is a conflict, it's like I have dial-up. :(

Don't know how the developers at Google have their jobs - they made no effort on their latest release to make Chrome work with Shockwave.

I use IE 7 on my work PC hummm during lunch time of course  and Chrome when home. I've never had a problem in terms of virus/malware and my work PC's security is pretty tight.

OP here. Read my OP again.

I was using the latest and greatest of FF when this happened. I did some searching around and found that several people had had "viral" issues two years or so ago on PriusChat.

IIRC, they were all using FF. So, I dusted off IE7 and tried again yesterday (I only keep IE around for the odd Microsoft update otherwise, it never comes out of the toybox). No problem with IE.

This a.m., I am using FF. So far, so good. So, whatever was, seems to be "was."

I've had FF go nuts at home too, a couple months ago...actually did get something and whenever I removed it my connectivity would go away.

I ended up reformatting just to be done with it.

In that sentence I can count two programs that you're running which are welcome mats to viruses (three if you count the "Windows").

Norton Anti Virus is one of the few malware programs available for the Mac.

I'm paranoid, but I sometimes think Norton slips virus' through the firewall just to remove them and make you think Norton is really doing something. When I ran Norton, it was always finding stuff, but now on Microsoft Security Essentials, I never have any problem. Really, it's just my small mind boggged down in conspiracy theory.:D

Multi-layered, multi-program security is needed for all systems these days, not just corporate.
