A driver takes a position to drive an electric car powered only by two of the Oxyride dry battery AA, seen set behind her head, developed by Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. Ltd. prior to its test run in Tokyo Friday, Dec. 10, 2004. The new battery that delivers 1.5 times the power of a regular alkaline battery will go on sale in the United States and Europe in April 2005, the Japanese electronics maker said. The Oxyride battery, which went on sale in Japan in April this year, also lasts longer than regular batteries, allowing users to take about twice as many pictures on a digital camera, according to the Osaka-based manufacturer of the Panasonic brand. Great mileage... would look good in the job parking lot... but you can't take friends for a ride.
