    Hello everyone,

So starting yesterday, I noticed that my wife's 2008 Prius started to have a grinding, squealing sound coming from the left front wheel when making a hard right turn. It seems worse when there is more weight in the car (2 people vs 1). It does not seem to go away if the turn in on an incline.

I took off the wheel, checked the brake pads (look great and have at least 10mm of pad on both sides), looked form foreign material within the pads or on the rotor, checked the knuckle joint and just about everything that I could look at looked fine. I didn't see any leaking from the strut (the silver strap at the top was not gold as described in the DIY visual inspection post).

I am going to have to take it in, but I am wondering what are likely causes for this? I cannot tell, but I suspect that the inside guard of the front brake is rubbing on the rotor.

    Could this mean wheal bearing?

    Thanks
    -Steve

Don't know what an inside guard is but sounds like wheel bearing gone way to far. Its probably been making a whup whup sound for a long time. Lost my left front at 30K.

Thanks for the idea. Any links to a guide on replacing these?

Oh yes many many posts about it here. Please search for old posts. Top right of this page in the search box put:

    Wheel bearing.
