    Hey

Does anyone know the power of MG1 and then MG2? Im guessing the 67hp is both of the motors power combined? Just wondering specs on both motors

Its been said MG1 cant run to at least 9500rpm (newer models, i have a 05). If so then MG2 can run you on just electric to about 65mph without problems from what i seen on a calculator someone built.

Also does anyone have the power requirements for the MG2 and MG1.

50 KW max on MG2, and maybe 15 KW for MG1. See the Argonne and
Oakridge papers, pointed to in my linkfarm.

Well, that's damned annoying. They had to go and MOVE it and
do gratuitous website changes, didn't they, just like Tim
Berners-Lee told them to NEVER do.
    .
Okay, search WHAT for ORNL/TM-2006/423? The OSTI site search
engine returns zero matches for that, or Prius, or anything
relevant. I need to find a new DIRECT pointer to the pdf, because
I'm writing up another article that draws heavily from it. I've
got my own local copy, of course, and was unaware that someone
had pulled a stupid as far as where the original lives.
    .
Oh, and for the sake of this exercise, google is NOT an answer.
The sites that supposedly present this information should be
held to actually making it FINDABLE and ACCESSIBLE without relying
    on external band-aids.
    .
[Edit: I'm in the process of tracking this through external
avenues, and it's getting a bit interesting. Details later.]

I believe it is 50KW for MG2 and 30KW for MG1 so that under worst case conditions the 20KW from the battery plus the 30KW output of MG1 can supply the full input to MG2.

    890029.PDF is restored!
    .
I eventually reached David Hamrin at Oakridge, who investigated
and found that a minor bureaucratic screwup had removed the
report quite unintentionally. He put it back, and all is well,
hopefully for the foreseeable long term.
    .
I still stuck in a link to a local copy in my stuff, in case
it disappears again. While it's a great read there are a few
minor things wrong in it, and I possibly raised a few eyebrows
by bringing some of them up in my own material. So if there
is some sort of withdrawal policy, it may mysteriously kick in
at some point if someone thinks that's enough of an issue.
    .
Personally I don't think it's an issue, and it's all good.
I'm almost done with the latest side-trip in the inverter
journey -- a piece about the boost circuit and some of *its*
mysteries, and I'll post the pointer here when it's done.
