What’s next a "Radical Islam World" amusement park styled after Disney World? Will they have real bullets in the AK-47 shooting galleries and rides that simulate driving a bomb laden car into crowded market places?

There wasn't a single word or idea spoken that couldn't have been lifted verbatim from any U.S. speech by any number of revered U.S. political and military figures, and I recall my grade school social studies textbooks from the 60s being full of this sort of nationalistic hogwash. Perhaps you're upset at the blatant plagiarism?

None of those textbooks encouraged us to take up AK-47s nor did they proclaim that this was the time of death. This is child abuse. And worse!

I believe it was Golda Meir who said, "There will never be peace until they love their children as much as they hate us."

That works both ways. Both sides hate each other so much that they are willing to condemn their grandchildren to perpetual war in order to avenge the deaths of their grandparents. The behavior of both sides makes me ashamed to be a human being.

There's a difference between condemning your grandchildren to a perpetual war in order to survive and encouraging your children to blow themselves up in order to kill others.

Actually, the most disturbing thing to me about this is the following ...

I'd hate to think that Wildkow is asking the mods to discourage discussion.

I'm not sure I know what "locking the post" means, but I have heard that there have been problems on other sites where the links to this Mickey video have been taken down, so I assume what he's asking for is for them to allow discussion but not remove the link.

Here's one place where I'll admit I have no idea what I'm talking about.

Luckily that is not a prerequisite for internet discussions.

Beyond not knowing what I am talking about, I don't even know why I read this thread!

Religion poisons everything. That was no different from scenes in "Jesus Camp".

    Some religions poison some things.

I'm not sure whether "Jesus Camp" is an animal, vegetable or mineral, but from what I know about Jesus, there are no AK-47s and the goal is life, not death.

Not just life in the hereafter, but a full life now. Not condemnation of others, but transformation of self.

Religion? What IS religion. Everyone has faith ... ie; a belief in something ... even believing in nothing ... even believing you can't know for certain ... so what is the point is stating that all people believe in something, poisions 'everything' (I just love superlatives). ? ?

The fact that people hate, then blend it into their politics or religion or custom doesn't make better or worse their politics or religion or customs. It's the hate you really despise, isn't it? But you (nor I) are not offering any sollutions on overcoming hate, are we. But we feel better by blaming (some) religion, as the cause of hate. That sure makes sense.

Ah, but faith isn't religion. Faith is a belief in something, where as religion is an organized, structured hegemony that provides something to be believed in at the cost of succumbing to the leadership of that religion.

Faith, by itself, isn't bad. Neither is religion, in it's pure sense. However, the leadership of a religion can, in essence, hijack it into doing their will. Back during the Crusades, the Christian leadership used their religious followers to wage a war. Today, we see similar actions from the religious leaders of other groups. If the leadership changed, and a new direction was given to the religious followers, such violence would decrease... It wouldn't disappear overnight, but we would see a sharp decline, followed by a more gradual decline over time.

Faith (and dogmatism) is the capacity of accepting ideas as fact without evidence, or even in the face of contrary evidence. Hence, its the perfect tool for religion to control its followers and convince them that is Ok to kill another human being or try to manage their sexuality.

In that sense both religion and faith are detrimental to society.

People, stop waxing esoteric on why Christianity is no better...

Its a giant stuffed mouse with a machine gun telling kids to kill Jews!

F-all get some perspective, this is just wrong on a whole new level.

On the topic of the thread, not sure, it is widely believed that Walt was a raving anti-Semite but I have never seen any definitive proof of that.

So, for example, if the heads of Enron are athiests, and their faith allows them to believe no accountability to a higher power, they can screw over 100's of thousands . . . . something like that? So I HAVE to have some kind of faith, in order to be that absolutely diabolical. Oh, ok
