    • The greenest cars to purchase are the Honda Insight, Toyota Prius and Honda Civic Hybrid. These are all hybrids. The combination of gas and electric motors give the best fuel efficiency. The GMC Envoy, Isuzu Ascender and Chevy Trailblazer are at the bottom of the list for fuel efficiency. If you can't live without an SUV, check out the Ford Escape hybrid, which sells for around $27,000. The Toyota Highlander is a hybrid SUV that will be available in early 2005.

    Didn't somebody say that the Ford Escape hybrid was going to get one mpg better than its conventional counterpart?

    Click & Clack point out that if you only need a heavy or off-road vehicle once or twice a year, you'd be better off renting one for those occasions and driving a normal car the rest of the year.

    And if you need 4WD because you live off the paved roads, there are much smaller vehicles than the big SUVs.

    No, that claim is from the bumbling bafoons at garbage motors with the silverato toy truck.

    The Escape Hybrid is expected to get in the mid 30's in the city.
