I have mp3 player, no ipod (been a pc guy too long).
On my other car I hooked to female jack from radio head and used player to navigate thru songs. I see the Prius has a mic jack and usb port. Assuming mike jack is same conn to player I've seen in past with same results.
If my tunes are on usb thumbdrive and inserted in port will they be controllable thru Prius display?
Is the format of the thumbdrive important?

FYI - The Prius has an audio line-in jack, not a mic jack. As long as you have a cable with a male 1/8 stereo plug on both ends, you should be able to play your MP3 player through the head unit (though not control it with the head unit).

You can copy MP3 files to a thumb drive and select/play them using the head unit display. I'm assuming the USB drive needs to be formatted with FAT - at least that's what worked for me. If you have both a Prius and a thumb drive, you're won't hurt anything by plugging it in and trying it.

The USB tunes can also be controlled by voice command.
