My2007 Prius was totaled in December and I purchased a 2009 with approx 52k miles. I'm driving the exact same route to and from work - and granted it is a stop and go short commute, but the 07 averaged 44ish mpg and I'm lucky to get 32 in the 09. I've checked the tire pressure - they were all incredibly low but correcting this has only made a slight improvement. It's clearly going for service very soon but I just wondered if anyone has a clue about what the problem could be.

Most likely it is the 12V battery. Particularly, if you bought it from a dealer instead of a private party, there is always a valet, salesguy, detailer etc. that runs the battery down, and all they ever do it jump it, instead of charging it.
