2 Years ago, my 12v Prius battery suddenly died. the nearest auto part from me is approx. 20 miles away.

    This is what I did:
I removed my PART# ETX15 Motorcycle battery from my Motorcycle and put it on my Prius.

The PRIUS kept running and starting great with the little motorcycle battery, so I left the battery in there just to see how long it would last.

    RESULTS:
I've put over 18k MILES on this motorcycle battery since then, & my PRIUS still starts up every time!!!

I had to open this just to see what came after "motorcycle".

    Very resourceful!

Now, I think the next thing to do is get the motorcycle to run on the HV pack. :)

I have a new 14Ah battery on the shelves (with acid in separate containers) for my motorcycle which I unfortunately don't drive anymore. I always thought I would throw it in the Prius when the 12V OEM dies before me finding a good source for a 55Ah mobility scooter battery.

Nice to know it would work like a charm :)

PS I also wondered if this would be enough to start it with a normal dead battery... (link to 12000mAh LiIon USB/laptop battery pack with 12V jumper leads...). I made a non rechargeable Lithium battery pack of obsolete batteries from work, but it didn't work (this was before I knew you need some 20A to start the car and the batteries could provide about 1A ;) ).

The more important question: what do you ride?
