    With apologies to Europeans, and others with much higher fuel prices.

    I looked at a graph of crude oil prices and noticed that the last time they fell (consistently) was throughout 2001. Must have seemed quite peculiar to buy a Prius in that setting. But since a few of us did, I decided to create a poll that unabashadely favors Prius oldsters - like me!

    So get out your fuel purchase logs, and sigh wistfully for the good old days - even if they weren't very long ago.

    I'll vote first. January 1, 2002, 87.9 cents per gallon.

    I paid .18 cents at my dad's gas station in mid-sixties during the so called gas wars in town. :)

    I remember when you doubled the price on the pump because the old mechanical pumps only went to 99.9 cents per gallon. I even saved a few cents by showing the dealer that the pump was set higher than half the price per gallon.

    US dollars per non-imperial gallons was the idea, and purchased for Prius purposes. For me the attached crude oil price history puts the beginning of the "hybrid vehicle era" into perspective.

    I need to do my vote over. I trimmed it to the Prius years.

    Less than 9 years ago, I was paying $0.89 on a bad day...

    I think the more appropriate indicators are either Brent Crude or Western something or other.... :ph34r:

    ...also, some usually correct for shipment cost; like what is the cost per barrel if you pulled up to the port, so to speak...

    Then again, they're probably in the same ball park so who cares...

    I was upset because in college gas went over $0.50/gallon. Then I got even more upset when it went over $1.00/gallon. Then I got even more upset when it went over $1.50/gallon.

    Well, I guess you get the picture.
