I accidentally got my next oil change milage mixed up and ended up going over 15k on the Mobile 1 and Toyota Filter. I was sure they were going to reprimand me...:director: but I was pleasantly surprised!!

    What do you guys think?

    Congrats!

Guess the stock filter is doing its job, too. Great to know. Although my gen3 is a different engine and filter, I expect similar results. Plan to change the first time between 5 and 10M, then go 10M unless I fail the normal service tests.

I just noticed that it was almost a full year between oil changes!! Since I do my own maintenance, that is a bonus!!

BTW, I started doing my Moms Camrys oil change as well. I ended up pushing hers till 10k since thats what I'm used to on my Prius. I thought I'd send it in to see what kind of damage was done.. again, another pleasant surprise :D

From my previous driving experience I also extend oil changes to around 8k with regular oil, though I do drive my car all day long so little cold engine wear/condensation problems.

The note about more miles=more iron on the report, my magnetic oil plug would take care of this, right? Just my recommendation, curious what the report would say with that installed, cheap insurance in my view.

Edit to answer alexilic's question about where I got my magnetic plug without bumping this thread , I don't recall, probably ebay. The local auto shops did not stock them.

You can get plugs on eBay. Just type in Prius Magnetic Plug. Or you can get them on Amazon or search for Gold Plug on Google...
