My prius 2010 II is giving bad mileage. I am getting 16.5 to 17 km/l. when i bought it (6 months ago) it was giving me about 22 to 25 km/l. And now it i not showing me the bar graphs , and green leaf car graph, which it was showing me when i bought it. I checked the battery by vehicle signal check . it gave me around 12.3v in the morning , after leaving off for a full night.

16.5km/l or 6l/100km is not that bad. If it is hot now and you are running the AC full blast, then that could do it. You are within the realm of possible fuel efficiency for a hot summer or cold winter. But if your driving style has not changed, and your HVAC usage has not changed, then perhaps something else did change like your alignment. Did you hit a pot-hole or curb? How does your tire wear look?

Potentially two separate problems that only might be connected.

But the dash not showing information is a separate problem in of itself.

I'm not so sure this is a good DIY problem to attack. Many, many factors can affect mileage. But your dash not showing certain displays is a very singular and direct symptom of something.

I'd start with trying to find out why your dash is suddenly not showing certain displays, and perhaps discovery of that problem will lead you to a simultaneous solving of your MPG issue.

Are you computing gas mileage manually? If your dash is freaking out, and information displays are disappearing, then I don't know if I would trust the vehicles assessment of gas mileage right now.

Since you say you bought this 2010-6 months ago, I'm assuming you bought it used. How familiar or knowledgeable are you about it's history? Do you know if it was in an accident? Rebuilt or underwent repair? Hopefully this isn't a symptom of a problem acquired during previous ownership.

But in past 3 months. . . The outside temp was 20 to 26c.. . And in that weather it gave me around 17kml only without ac.

Just to clarify the fuel consumption units:

    17 km/l = 5.8 liter/100 km = 40.6 mpg (US)

    22 km/l = 4.5 liters/100 km = 52 mpg (US)

2010 should be a Gen III. In Japan even the 2009 was a Gen III

The antenna's about 12 to 18 inch on gen two, about 8 inch on gen 3. That's the easiest at-a-glance exterior difference for me.

The headlights are different (there's that little kink at the top vs. the vertically stacked design of the Gen II) and the mirrors are mounted on the doors for the Gen III vs. mounted on the door frame on the Gen II among other differences.

So are all the other functions on that display working, apart from the bar graph with the "green leaf car" display?

Yes all other functions are working fine. It seems like it is turned off , if it has some feature like turning graphon or off, ,

So please tell us what you do see instead of the graph then. Do you just see a blank screen or is it displaying some other content?

Wow that's weird, I've never heard of that particular failure before. There have been some cases where the display fails completely due to bad solder joint, but I've never heard of one doing everything else properly except the time graph. Hopefully someone else can help, I've got no idea on that one. (n)

Its normal for Prius gen II to do 16-17km/l in hot weather. Do you have AC blowing at full when you drive? Has your driving pattern changed?

Seems like you would do very well to get a mini VCI setup on a laptop PC and open techstream to see if that reveals anything while driving.
