Not sure who remembers my previous post about Sirius, but I've found a bit more info.

As it turns out, I have a six-month trial subscription, and I'm supposedly able to get everything they offer. However, using the tuning knob, I seem to skip around the dial, from 1 to 8 to 12, etc. No matter what I try, no matter what combination of scan settings, I only get about a dozen stations.

Anyone have experience with a factory-installed Sirius receiver and can shed some light on this? I'm willing to give Sirius a shot for the next six months if I can get more than just the All Elvis and All Jimmy Buffett stations.

You have to call Sirius and give them the ESN of your receiver. They will activate within 20 minutes. If you don't renew after 6 months, they will de-activate your ESN, and you will be back to the sample stations.

Done. They already had my ESN on file, but the activation must not have taken the first time (if there was a first time, anyway).

Since your SIRIUS sat now works can you please check the TEXT mode to see how many characters it displays? i.e. Do you see the full name of whatever is currently playing or you se a truncated version?

What is your experience with satellite signal drop-out while driving?

    Thanks

Well, I've driven it in pretty open spaces (open by Long Island standards, anyway), and dropout has been about what I would expect - I lose signal under railroad and highway overpasses, and once in a while in thick treecover. And just for the record, I have a wedge-type antenna stuck to the inside of my front windshield.

I'm not terribly impressed with the sound quality, though. I think my head until has the anti-static fix, which is nice, but the sound lacks oomph.

    Same with the 06.

Obviously Toyota/Sirius has not improved the receiver or the (ugly) antenna.
With the JBL speakers the sound is a bit better, but yes it does not have “bodyâ€.
    Thanks for the info.
