My son appearing on ABC's Nightline

Awesome! I'll try to find a way to tune in... I don't have standard TV. Is there a way to watch it through the internet?

 

Those deal sites are really crazy.. do not know how they come up with some of that stuff. I remember about 5 years ago I got a desk chair, a bunch of RAM, and 200 CD-R's for like $20 after rebates. Still using all of the items.

Hey Jud, Your Son really has that down to a science! It was very impressive that he got over $500 worth of groceries for $30. Kroger got good free advertising too. Plus that abc logo he made in the driveway was really cool, he's a real schmoozer LOL.

Congrats to Nathan! I tried to watch the Nightline clip, but for some reason I could not get any sound. I will give it a try later, though I think I understand the gist of it, as I do something similar, based on what I am assuming from these posts. I use databases at a free coupon site (don't know if I can mention the name) to find the sales and where the matching coupons are to use on the sale items. DH and I were frugal to begin with, but now I save about $300 per month thanks to the strategic shopping techniques I have learned.

Even for those who don't want to use coupons, it pays to search the databases for the sales at your stores so you can stock up ahead of time on the items you use when they are at a low price, as opposed to buying them when you need them. Over time, you will save a lot this way. While you can also look at store circulars for sale info, you will find more info on more items in the databases. Also, the sale circulars are designed to help you spend, while the databases are designed to help you save.

Kudos again to Nathan. It is great to see younger people use these strategies. With his early start, just think of how much he will be able to save over a lifetime.

i don't think it's like that in the northeast. we use coupons, but you can't use them on sale items etc. we save a bit and have heard these stories for years. i believe them, just not around here.
