    Hi Wayne,

You're posting in the Gen 2 forum, but the answer for the antenna location is the same; it's under the dash, way forward, near where the instrument cluster is.

The Gen 1 nav computer is under the passenger seat. You can probably find an end of the antenna cable down there. It's probably the only connector down there that looks like a coaxial cable instead of just a bunch of wires to pins.

There are some diagnostic screens on the headunit that should show you any error codes from the nav. Do you have any? It can probably also show a GPS status screen ... you know, how many satellites in view, what signal strength, etc. If you suspect the antenna, you can get a good one and just plug it in under the seat and see if the reception improves. (In that way, with the nav under the seat, you have an easier job than in later generations where you'd have to get to the headunit in the dash.)

Try pressing one of the nav-related buttons like MAP or DEST. If your Gen 1 doesn't have nav, you should get a message on the screen like "The external system is not connected."

Now, if you get that message and you're sure you should have nav (as in, you can see the box under the passenger seat), then you might have nav that isn't working. But if you get that message and there's no nav box present, you probably don't have nav.
