I was wondering how do I know what version of the Nav DVD I currently have and if there is an update how/where can I order it from?

EDIT: Ok I just figured out how to check the current version and I have a 2006 Prius wth the ver 5.1 NAV DVD. Is there a newer version and if so how can I get it and how much is it?

Version 6.1 is available from your Toyota dealer. Expect to pay about $300. Common wisdom around here seems to indicate not buying one every year as not that much information changes. I suppose if you heavily rely upon having the very latest info, say you work on the road and are visiting all sorts of new places, it would be worthwhile to upgrade.

I had version 4.2 in my 2005 and I never bothered to upgrade it. While I've seen some updates and improvements in the 6.1 information, it is not perfectly up-to-date. For example, there is a restaurant that has changed names a couple of times over the past few years. The 4.2 had the old name, that closed about 4 years ago. 6.1 has the second name that opened about 2 years ago. The restaurant changed hands almost a year ago, but that information didn't make it into the 6.1 disk.

The other problem with upgrading to 6.1, at least with the 2004-2005, is that the NAV override trick won't work anymore.

Thanks everyone for the fast responses, I guess I will hold then cause that is way too much to spend for a tiny little update

Good point, but even that's not insurmountable, either with a hardware interruption of the speed signal wire or coastaletech.com's LockPick products.

You can also make a hybrid DVD using 6.1 map data and the 5.1 DVD info, but you have to have both DVDs (plus the talent) to do that.

I'd have to replace my original Coastal NAV enhancement kit to do that. Does it work with the 6.1 version on the 2005?
