Does anyone have a method of overriding the nav system while the car is in motion without cutting wires? Thanks

    Hi Ed,

You have a Gen 4 Navi system There is 1 method to input data and 2 to override the the keyboard while the Prius is in motion
1 Use the built-in voice recognition feature this is the legal no cost Toyota
    preferred method fur 04-08 prius

2 If you have not updated your Navi DVD version to more then 5.1 there is a way to temporarily override the lockout til the car is turned off and restarted see note 2 & See Note4

3 Go to the Coastal Tech website and purchase a Lockpick3 installing it it plugs-in and must be removed when taking the car to the dealer for service if not it will void warrenty

    Notes foe above:
1 See the Quick Navigation guide in your manual set for details I am creating a post to clarify how to use Voice recognition feature very soon

2 Here is a you tube video showing the software override also this wil not work for 2006- 2008 gen 5 Navi

Audio note on the videos the audio is normally off click the speaker icon to adjust to hear the audio

Here is a Video showing how to Voice input an address with the winduws up FAN AMD RADIO OFF it a Lexus vid but applies to all

note 4 If you still have Navi disk version 4.2 or 5.1 and upgrade to 6.1 or later and just install the UPDATED DVD you will lose the software override shown in the first video and clarified in the next posts So if you want to upgrade to the later version 7.1 dont install new version till you make a combo disk making a copy of the NEW NAVI DISK and with a dvd burner using a double layer dvd -r ISO format disk and replace a file startup.kwi with that file on the OLD NAVi DISK!!! SO KEEP yOUR ORIGINAL DISK!!!then install the combo disk!!!

note 5 the Gen 4 NAVI voice recongnition feature is more accurate then the gen 5 i have used both versions IMHO

    hope this helps

On the volume screen touch the top left corner of the screen, then the bottom left, then the top left and then the bottom left one more time.
