Neat accessories on Toyota Japan Prius Site

    I found some interesting stuff on their site, and got some idea of each item using Google translation
    Three favorites areL
    Built-in 1200watt A/C outlet in the car
    Side mirror that automatically tilts down when you go in reverse (just like my old Acura)
    Toyota's G-Book Nav system which has neat 3-D views, real-time traffic avoidence, etc

    i really like the idea of 120 volt outlets in the veh but we need more outlets and maybe higher watts. 2500rms with 5k peak would work. then i could run my mini office out of my car :mrgreen:

    It is only 100W of 100V AC converted from DC 12V.

    The Alphard/Estima Hybrid Minivan has 1,500W of 100V AC converted from the HV battery as standard equipment.

    There is a special Prius and test home made by Toyota Home.

    The test home has the emergency power connector from the special Prius.
    The Prius can supply 3000W for 36 hours, they said.

    Of course, the test home has the smart key system using the same fob as Prius.

    Assuming a 30% conversion efficiency of petrol energy to electrical energy, and 1 litre of petrol containing about 9kWh of chemical energy, you're looking at using 0.37 litres of fuel (about a tenth of a US gallon) to make each kWh of electricity.

    That means (at $2 per gallon), the electricity from your Prius would be costing you about 20 cents per kWh, which isn't too bad compared to grid costs of maybe 12 cents per kWh. However you could just stick a windmill on the roof of your house and get it for 1 cent per kWh!
