Need help 2006 shows engine light on and not charging the batteries

    I am needing help.. we have a 2006 the check engine light came on and the batteries not charging. Any ideals ?

    Are there any other lights on other than the check engine light on? The check engine light usually means there's a failure in the emissions of the car, not really battery related (unless other lights are also on)

    Is it not charging the High Voltage batteries? Is the "battery gauge" going down? You should use a prius compatible scantool to check for codes in ALL modules. The usual reccomendation is to get a "mini VCI" cable with a copy of techstream from amazon or ebay and install it on an old windows laptop. Techstream is the same software used by Toyota to diagnose their cars.
