Our '22 L Eco will chirp - and this is not the lane edge proximity ding - at random times. When we're maintaining highway speed, when we're stopped, when we're ac- or decelerating. Very weird. Sounds like it's coming from the left half of the dash. Here is a video clip with dimmed road noise on either side of the chirp.
Hmmm....definitely something electronic beeping. Is it coming from behind the dash? Did you buy the car new? I'm wondering if someone installed some sort of device in there. There's nothing plugged into the OBD port under the steering wheel, is there? I'd, also, check the fuse boxes for anything plugged in. (That beep doesn't sound like any beep I've heard a Toyota make.)
Doesn’t even resemble a topical Toyota noise. If you are able, crawl into the driver footwell looking up under the dash with a flashlight, and see if you see anything. I suspect something aftermarket.
Thanks, I appreciate the response. I'll check there for sure. Definitely not my phone, but thanks. I'll definitely do this, thanks!
Glad you found it! A few years ago, I'd hear an annoying sound coming from the right/front side of my Tundra but not always...just as certain highway speeds....drove me nuts! The Tundra has a metal skid plate and not many plastic covers so I knew it wasn't that. Look all under the engine and around, nothing! Then, I was walking by the right, front tire and looked in there....some engineer at Toyota decided to put a little cloth cover over the outside of the suspension held on by three little plastic clips. Well, the cloth, on the front, had ripped and it would flap at certain speeds. I researched just buying a new cloth and clips but couldn't find anything so just removed it. (The other side, also, got ripped so it's now gone, too.) If anybody knows what they are called I'd appreciate it...would like to replace them. When searching Toyota parts, half the battle is finding what they call stuff!
Our home theatre amp does a sound much like that, when set to certain inputs, playing blue ray or dvd, phases of the moon. Get's worse as it heats up. Is it frequent enough dealership could replicate with a test drive? If it's an electronic component failing, that'd likely be warrantied. Except, what are they charging for a "diagno$tic" these days? Maybe it's time Toyota mothership started cracking down...
