Needs 4 or 5 attempts for full ignition to kick in

Been having a problem starting the car (2010 T Spirit - 25k mileage RSH) in the mornings for about 3 weeks.
When you power on, the dashboard lights up most options and the power light goes amber with no engine start.
This can take 5 or 6 attempts before getting the engine to start and then half the dashboard like the clock etc will not light up for that journey.
Subsequent journeys that day are ok but the issue returns for the first start every day.

    Any ideas? Battery issue?

    Thanks bisco.
After reading a few posts I thought that may be the case.
Easy to replace myself with a few tools or wait until the service which is already booked for next week?

easy to replace, and usually much cheaper than having it done. check out member 'britprius', i think he got a good deal on an exide, and is very happy with it. at least you can compare price and warranty to toyota. all the best.(y)

Also check that the brake switch (behind the pedal) is functioning properly.

good point. back up to a wall, and see how hard you have to press for brake lights.

Thanks for the feedback guys - I've got it booked in for a service/MOT on Monday to hopefully resolve.

If it's the original 12 volt battery, you're probably not wasting time or money in replacing it in any case.
Here's hoping it IS the culprit.

It's definitely where I would start.
