More than one occasion the AAA batteries are one of the worst batteries you can get. You may like the convience of just throwing it in because your old battery died. The thing is that the AAA batteries are just expensive as the toyota OEM ones. Save yourself headache and pain by going to the dealership and buying the Toyota OEM.

AAA battries never last and only die on you after the warranty runs out. The Toyota batteries can last up to 7 years and these AAA batteries only last 2 years LoL.

Actually there's been a huge 12v scam going on since Prius first hit the market... Hybrid cars don't need a typical 12v battery that starts the engine. Prius only needs a tiny bit of power from a 12volt to turn on the computers and relays to power up the high voltage battery which handles all power needs, including starting the engine.

Because this is a "different" battery than regular automotive batteries the greedy corporate CEOs (especially Toyota Stealerships) see exploitive opportunities and have been acting like the difference means Prius batteries cost $100 MORE than a regular automotive battery when the truth is they cost $100 less because its not cold cranking amps but amp hours that matter in this battery types lifespan.

Your local BatteriesPlus sells a back up power supply battery for just under $200 that will work, or online for just over $100 and both give you a 55amp-hour battery that fits. And compare that to the $300+ scam of a "special" hybrid car battery that auto parts sellers sell that only has 38amp-hours....

I've seen the dummies on here get those overpriced and under-powered 12volts and go through two of them in the amount of time (9 years) I've gone through one of these 55amp hour batteries for $120. You can learn more here: Fitting mobility 12volt AGM battery. | PriusChat

Also here's a link to the one I usually buy from Expert Battery on Ebay or Amazon: www.amazon.com/dp/B00KQX5GSC?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title

The terminals connect in a slightly different way, which requires a trip to a hardwarde store for some bolts and washers, but if you're interested in not wasting any more money on your 12v I'd be happy to walk you through those details.

I'm sure I looked pretty confused as I tried to figure out why there'd be a Toyota brand of AAA battery.

I learned the hard way that alkaline batteries when installed in little used items like flashlights and electronic devices will eventually leak and corrode ruining them. This is v especially true with flashlights when the corroded batteries swell and cannot be removed.

In these devices, I use Energizer Ultimate Lithium cells. If they die, they never corrode. They also store, if not drained for many many years.

I had batteries corrode all over the printed circuit boards inside a pricey Milwaukee multimeter. The thing was shock/weather insulated: talk about Maginot Line Syndrome, it was the batteries inside, in their non-isolated compartment, that did it in. Tip: never store that meter face down.
