The top segment of the battery indicator never seems to get filled ....is that normal or a malfunction even after driving straight for 30-40 miles? Any observations by others..

Welcome to PC and congratulations on your new car.

Normal. You will only see the top bars when going down long hills. The battery ECU tries to keep the battery between 40-80% with 80% being 2 bars from the top.

    No worries.

Normal. It's a buffer zone that usually gets filled by regenerative braking while going down a long hill/mountain. If the grade is really long or steep, you'll want to put the car in "B" gear which uses the engine (ICE) as a compression brake to take some of the load of both the regen and hydraulic brakes.
