The battery in my turn-on-the-ignition-remotely in my Prius 2006 fob finally wore out, so I replaced it. Now I have to insert the fob in the slot in the dashboard in order to start. No big deal, and entirely understandable given the age of the battery, but now that I have the new battery installed the fob insists on being inserted in the dash before I can start the car, where before I needed only to be within a few feet of the car. A Prius dealer employee told me it was because I had the battery in upside down. Not true. Any help, please? --Fred Powledge

try checking your 12 volt battery. maybe a coincidence?
    what about your other fob?
also, check the voltage of the new fob battery.

I was not aware of a remote engine starter...doesn't everyone have to Press the Power button?

CR2032 battery needs to be + side up when you put it in.

    PS- Welcome!

Is the "KEY" button by the driver's knee pressed in?
If it is, press it again so it is out.
