DENSO Develops World's First Passenger Vehicle Air Conditioning System Using an Ejector

"DENSO Corporation has developed the world's first passenger vehicle air conditioning system that uses ejector technology. The ejector, which is a small refrigerant injector, contributes to an overall reduction in power consumption. The system will be installed on the new Prius, introduced by Toyota this month."

    That's pretty cool :p

Actually, I thought the ejector was to get rid of unwanted passengers. Maybe the Gen IV? :D

That was my thought, also. Less occupants = less heat generated = AC runs more efficiently in the summer. :)

No, that is the Rush Limbaugh / George Will, special edition:

Due to weight limitations, the Limbaugh version ejects down.

I wish the article had provided a comparision diagram of conventional versus the ejector. I've got a rough idea of what they are doing, but really need a picture to see how. I also wish it had stated the expected efficiency improvement in percent or something.

Sounds like a nice incremental improvement for the AC.

It'll probably be activated by pushing the "super eco" mode where all your passengers are ejected for maximum mpg.

Is this a large part of what you are looking for
It is from the Denso release linked in the first post. The release also gives a fairly good text description of the differences from a conventional AC system.

That's only available with the "Q" package.

You also get forward and rear firing lasers (since the Prius includes a battery pack, it can be used to fire a megawatt laser, replacing those antiquated machine guns on previous "Q" models).
