We picked up a Prius II lease tonight. We traded in a Chevy Tahoe V8. We look forward to seeing how this will change our life and budget.

Quite a lot, I would guess. Based on what I saw at the dealership I was at today, a lot of people are doing the same thing - lot's of big V8's being traded in for the Prius, Corolla, and Camery (according to dealer). Gonna get me a Prius II too, shortly. Enjoy!

Wow a Tahoe for a Prius. What will you do with all the money you'll be saving from MPGs, insurance, maintenance and more? You'll have enough money left over to pay off the mortgage!

Welcome to PriusChat. Read the owner's manual and check out the forums.

You will find the monthly fuel payment for the Tahoe was considerably more than your car payment and new monhly fuel payment combined [IMG]!

    Welcome, enjoy yourself!

After doing some math it looks like it's pretty even. About 270 to fuel the Tahoe monthly versus 270 monthly to cover lease, 1 tank of gas, and full coverage insurance. I'll have pay 250 more in DMV fees but I don't have to pay for maintenance for 2 years.

If I messed up my calculation, it can't be by much. Driving a new car and using less gas is way better than driving a 10 year old Tahoe. We are happy.

    Thanks for the welcomes.
