    Hello everyone,

New Prius owner here as of this past Friday. Love this little machine. What a fun car! Prius III, blizzard pearl with Nav JBL, blue tooth/backup camera....

I sold my '05 Pathfinder LE (loaded) and do miss it dearly-- but I don't miss filling it up for $75 every 5 days!

So, now in my new Prius, each trip has become a fun game to see how to use the least amount of fuel!

I've reviewed the gas saving tips posted throughout the website...

any other tips other than that "pulse and glide" that might help?

    all suggestions are appreciated!

    ;)

Hi and welcome to Priuschat and you new Prius purchase.

I see you posted in our Gen III forums asking the same question here: http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...y/91924-tips-best-gas-mileage-2011-prius.html

The thread has received some helpful replies already so check em' out. We usually ask to please not ask the same question in multiple forums, it just keeps things a bit more tidy and easier to search for stuff. Thanks :)

    1. Just drive it. No amount of gas is worth an accident.
    2. Drive as if you have no brakes, the least braking you do, the higher mileage you will get.
    3. Never hesitate to add air to the tires, (read and do not exceed the sidewall of the tire)
    4. remember your real goal is to use less gas, not to have the highest MPG.
5.In winter grill blocking and Engine block heaters help mileage.
    6. a light car is a frugal car.
    7 speed kills gas mileage.

Welcome to PriusChat. As the Mod says, common sense driving causes good MPGs. The owner's manual talks about common sense approach to good MPGs: easy accelerations, smooth driving and coasting to slow down rather than hard braking. Check that out in your manual.

Enjoy the high MPGs, technology, low-emissions and great fun!

You sound just like me when I first got my Prius. Every trip was a new mpg challenge. It was fun then and it still is now. I think it's just amazing that the car can be pushed so far past its design mpg.

Keep that sparkle in your eye and read through the great links provided above and read through the old forum posts and you'll be a pro in no time. ;)
