CenterPoint energy of Texas is looking on how to better improve our experience and desires to have our Hybrids and EVs to charged when we tell them to. Currently the only way to charge the Plug-In vehicles when desired is to wait until that time comes to physically plug in the charge connector.

We are looking to see if users have a desire to have control over the hours and/or duration of a charge once the vehicle is plugged in.

A short survey has been made available and there will be a chance to win one of five $50 American Express Cheques to use wherever AE is accepted.

Survey is available to take at:

Some very odd questions and some assumptions are made about the people taking the survey.

What mpg do I expect from a PEV?
Well maybe 100 miles divided by ... zero?

Yeah, MPG in an electric vehicle is ambiguous but from some research, the average customer has no idea how to compare a gasoline vehicle to a fully electric vehicle. They still use MPG which itself isn't accurate with an EV, but we prefer to use that since they understand the concept and how much they "expect." From there we can simply convert the gallons of gasoline to a price value then get a price value of kWh and convert that to how much to charge the battery in an EV and how many miles from that charge.

That is easier than asking an average person what kind of "mileage" they expect per cost. (Since gas prices always vary)
