State Hybrid HOV (bill): A04278 and S 92 would amend the vehicle and traffic law to permit drivers of qualified hybrid vehicles to travel in high occupancy vehicle lanes regardless of the number of passengers in such vehicle. (Different than AB 7474 because no toll exemption in this one so it is not a reintroduction) A04278 Referred to Transportation committee 2/09/05 S 92 Advanced to third reading 3/07/05.

Same thing seems to be going on here in Colorado. The EPA as 180 days (but starting when I don't know) to give guidance to the states about this issue. Not sure what guidance CDOT is waiting for but it sounds like it's gonna happen. Just no timetable or word on the issue.

 

I've been pushing for Kansas to adopt similar HOV privileges for hybrid vehicle owners, but I was told the state had to construct the HOV lanes first.
