Quick newbie question. From the 24hr test drive I noticed that the Prius engine shuts down usually when stopped for a few seconds. However the MFD shows the engine as not running during the decel/braking although it clearly *is* (turning).

So I'm under the impression that when I'm regen'ing and coming to a stop that fuel is cutoff to the engine although it is turning. Is that correct? I want to know whether or not fuel is being consumed during that point.

    Thx.

    p.s. 7 more days....

assuming the engine is warmed up already, under 40 MPH most of the time the engine isn't even turning while doing regen. while over 40 mph the engine is turning but is not using any fuel during regen. Same can be said if the car is being propelled from the electric motor / battery.
