Howdy folks. I considered myself to NOT be a Prius guy at all. But that all changed less than 3 weeks ago when a Toyota salesman talked me into driving a low mileage '09 Prius 4. I was almost instantly converted! We bought it for my son to drive.
Since then. The whole family has fallen in love with this car and now I'm going to purchase a 2012 Prius 4 tomorrow for a work car. The Carfax and such are great and the price is right but it does have a little over 100k miles on it.
Can you tell me exactly what things I should pay particular attention to when test driving and examining this particular car?
Next up after this purchase is to find another one for my daughter too!

    Thanks in advance!

Well, it's nice to have another convert here at the forum. Congratulations on you new-found love affair with the Prius.
In order to give you any insite as to the deal that you are considering, a price would be be in order. Also, 100k mileage would be borderline for me, personally, to consider the purchase. If you have the time, shopping around would be smart. Remember, with all your excitement your may be sellers fodder. Just don't rush into something that you might regret later on.
    Best of luck!

Well now, that sound like a reasonable deal. Keep us [forum] in the loop.

Will do! They're hard to find around here (Prius 4). 2's are a little easier to find, but still not that easy

Brought her home. Moved the Durango out of the garage and the Prius in. Lots of extra room now, LOL

@Bluegrassman - The car looks cool.

It is amazing because I just bought (Sep 23rd, Friday night) a used 2012 Prius 4 (classic silver) and it had only 34k miles! one owner, someone took care of it really well :)

My wife is not touching her Mazda 5 for now lol, She has been taking the Prius to run errands this weekend. Poor Mazda 5 looks boring now as the tech in it sucks but the damn thing is paid off and we are stuck with it for now.

I love our Prius so far and wife and kids love it too.

What's really amazing is r fact that 10k miles, 50k miles, 100k miles... These cars feel just as good as when they were new. After buying 2 of them in the past 3 weeks I'm looking to buy one more, LOL

LOL, you are on a roll!!
Does the 2012 Prius four have the HUD? I don't know what that is...I know the Prius Five does have it including LKA and solar package. The remote A/C start on Prius Five sounds great as I live in Tampa bay where it gets hot!

Those are options, but I don't have them on mine. The factory remote start isn't much to talk about unless you like the idea of working your door lock actuators a lot ;) And then there's the distance limitations.... Aftermarket, although requiring an additional remote, gives much greater range among other benefits.

I just reread that ... you were only taking about the remote ac... I do think that would be nice, but I believe it has a very limited run time

That's so true! My story is like yours, I would have never been a hybrid guy if it hadn't been for my sister that bought a 2005 a years ago. She has treated the thing pretty badly and looks awful but it has 228,000 miles on it now and runs great other than consuming oil. It drives smooth and quiet! I'm on my 3rd Prius now, my first one, also a 2005 has almost 300k on the clock and runs fine. My little sister now drives it back and fourth to home from college on the weekends. Great cars. They never seem to stop amazing me. Just think how many times the door has been opened, and how many times that little 1.5 liter engine has been started and stopped. AMAZING!

100k is nothing compared to what some have. Remember that guy that had 400k+ on his?

230k on my 2010! Can still pull off 50mpg without much effort.

Exactly what I'm thinking. If my Durango can still be going strong at 150k miles, 100k is nothing to a well maintained Toyota!

    150k for a dodge = 300+ for Toyota/subaru/Honda
