Next gen of carplay

    First Toyota has to decide to license/adopt it - then it might bring out new cars supporting this (including new hardware). Even if they go "all-in" it would not really work/make sense in a P5 I would say.

    From the descriptions of the new apps, new hardware would be required to support the full suite of functions in this new edition of CarPlay.

    Principally, it appears that the head unit needs a link to the vehicle CANbus. The new apps need data from the car.

    I'm sure I'll be able to solve that with an aftermarket head unit in our car, if this new version of CarPlay proves worthwhile. Hoping I get to play with it in a rental soon.
