not exactly novel. There was an EV1 prototype that used a small turbine as a range extender, and Capstone has a microturbine-electric prototype sports car.

IMHO, most hybrids will have turbines in 10-15 years.

I would go with the Jag. At these power and torque levels there are hard problems to solve and I suspect Jag has proprietary information about how to approach these problems. But I would like to see Clarkson's faced ripped by the Jag performance.

Now if Jag provided a 'traction control off' option, I could see Clarkson:

    • flips it off
    • stomps accelerator - car does not move but within seconds, all four tires explode in flames, smoke and tire fragments
    • new tires and goes for a drive
    • stomps accelerator at speed - car does not accelerator but within seconds four tires explode in flames, smoke and tire fragments
Still, I like both concepts, the Capstone and Jag, but would take the Jag first.

Next modification, Cessna Skymaster with two-motor solution driving fixed pitch, high angle props.

Perhaps these generators could be placed on top of landfills or out back of greasy restaurants or on top of oil refinery methane-burn-off-pipes. Perhaps the next nobel prize will go to the innovative person that develops a way to collect the trillions of cubic feet of cattle flatulence that is emitted globally every year - so that it can be converted into electricity.
