i think you need to replace your 12v battery.

Check your the voltage at the under hood jumpstart point, with a digital multimeter. Anything under 12.3 you've got problems. I think you know already though, lol.

Jumpstart will not recharge it. You could try a charging session, or two, with a smart charger. May or may not work. May take a new battery.

I'll try not to preach, but it's best to turn off all "convenience" lights possible: cabin ceiling, hatch. Also, minimize open doors. If possible, hooking up a smart charger when you're working on something like this would be good.

And if the battery takes and holds a charge, it might be necessary to completely disconnect it for 5 minutes or so to get all of the electronics to reset.

Measure the voltage of the 12V battery to make sure it’s ok. You can measure it from jump start point under hood.

If it’s ok then disconnect the 12V battery for 5min. If that fixes MFD then it just got confused from 12V getting down. If it still doesn’t work it’s problem with your MFD. Maybe something happened when you did the change stereo. MFD problems are pretty common and they are related to vibration so changing stereo may have finally broken it…

Early Gen2 Prii (2004 and 2005) commonly have MFD problems. See:

    Prius MFD

For the most prominent one (a cracked solder joint) which is what your MFD symptoms seem to indicate.

Check for burned spots on the printed circuit boards. Some components may need replacing or re-soldering. Failing that, a good electronic engineer could troubleshoot it and probably fix it, but those guys don't come cheap.
