Apologies in advance if this is an FAQ.

I'm looking for non-Toyota engine air filter and cabin air filter part numbers for my 2004 Prius. Dealer items are typically more expensive, so I'm looking for the least expensive alternative.

Thanks in advance to anyone who has some suggestions.

I forgot to mention, I'm looking for something I can buy at a local parts store......

    Thanks in advance.

The parts store should be able to tell you what's available. Or you could search well-known parts manufacturer's sites to see what they have. I've heard of people using household furnace filters cut to size for the cabin air filter, but I wouldn't chance that with the engine air filter.

You can usually get non-OEM filters at the local parts store (or even walmart) for 1/2 the price of the dealer. They work just fine.

I've checked Advanced Auto Parts and the (either Fram or Purelator) filters they carry are just as much ($30) as my local Toyota dealer charges.

I have been doing exactly that for years with no problems.
