My Prius was locked and I was putting on my car cover today when I noticed the dome lights turned out. I did have my key in my pocket, but did not unlock the car.

    Is this normal?

The dome lights did turn off again after I think 30 seconds after I walked away.

Nevermind I looked in the manual, apparently that's normal when in the presence of in an electronic key.

Occasionally the dome lights misbehave. Sometimes you can't get them to turn off while driving; sometimes the lights don't want to work when you open the car door. It always goes away the next time I drive, and it rarely happens. So I just live with it. The last thing I want to do is to ask my friendly Toyota dealer to fix an intermittent problem. I know doing that never works regardless of what the appliance or vehicle is.

Well in your area, there are places that will do it for you at a reasonable fee.

Do LED dome lights take less power and brighter than the stock ones?

I haven't replaced my interior lights as I like the warm glow of incandescent lights. The LEDs would take less power but may or may not be brighter... just depends on the bulb.
