Our 1997 Nissan Altima finally bit it at 111K miles. It stranded spouse by the side of the road (its third alternator). It's accumulated significant body & fender damage that rendered the car worthless-- or at least unsellable. We gave it to an 18-year-old up the street who may be the last teenager in America capable of driving a manual transmission. She's thrilled so we're happy too.

The owner of the '04 Civic hybrid never answered our e-mails so we went with the 2005 package #5. Only 31K miles and year-old tires. Its owner raced to the dealer every six months for an oil change, waving his credit card in case there was anything else to check, and accumulated an inch-thick file of receipts to prove it. So the car's already had the accelerator pedal mod and the water-pump replacement... year-old dealer battery... he took better care of his '05 than I did of our '06. But we have a couple more years to replace the '06's water pump!

The owner was moving off the island. $17K, the blue-book value for our area.

The upholstery has been ridden hard by small kids and the body has a number of scratches. (The previous owner passed on a $100 Maaco coupon that he won in a radio contest, so we'll see what they can do with the scratches.) I'm ordering the windshield shade but spouse doesn't care about the plastic adhesive rear-bumper ledge.

The key fobs' rubber buttons have been torn off, so we'll probably buy new fob shells. They're both silver-logo fobs but he thinks one is supposed to be a smart key and the other not. He's not technically aware and we don't care whether it's SKS or not.

Spouse is entranced with the six-CD player and hoping that her 1980s cassette tapes still work. Because of that she doesn't care about an AUX jack or FM adapter for her iPod. Otherwise, has anyone had any reliability problems with this audio system?

His & hers Priuses are apparently entitled to names. She considered "Salt 'n' Pepa" over my vote for "AC/DC" with "Back in Black". She may be sticking to the traditional "Black Beauty."

Any other issues with the '05s, now that they're over six years old?
