It seems that Toyota has opted to call wide band O2 sensors "air fuel ratio sensors" on this engine. If I understand correctly, it's to prevent confusion due to the signals being inverse? And AFR sensors can be distinguished from regular O2s by an (annoying) trim ring around the thread? I'm tracking a P2238 code on a newly replaced JDM engine. It seems the engine kept the JDM AFR sensor and I'm wondering if its compatible with a USA ECU. Or maybe the sensor is just toasted. Thanks for any help.
